Translate

Rangers secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Algerian side MC Alger in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie at the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Sunday.

The encounter saw both teams finish with 10 players after Rangers goalkeeper Lucky Jimoh was sent off just 11 minutes into the game, while MC Alger’s Oussama Benhaoua received his marching orders seven minutes into the second half.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Nigerian champions showed resilience and determination, scoring twice in the closing stages to claim a valuable advantage ahead of the return leg.

Rangers broke the deadlock six minutes from time when Chimobi Igwilo was brought down inside the penalty area.
