Avengers: Endgame Encore new scenes spoilers revealed as re-release adds connections to Doctor Doom and Doomsday

A new version of Avengers: Endgame has arrived in UK cinemas three months ahead of the hotly anticipated release of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday – and, as promised, the re-release includes some brand new scenes.

In total, four minutes of new footage have been added to the film – which has been released under the slightly tweaked name Avengers: Endgame Encore – including an appearance from Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom.

The first of the scenes, all of which were shot during production on Doomsday and are designed to create a bridge to the new film, takes place during the iconic dance between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) at the end of Endgame.

The new footage sees them receiving a house visit from Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is wearing his Time Variance Authority uniform – although we don't quite discover the purpose of his visit.

Loki also makes an appearance in another new scene with Mobius (Owen Wilson), Casey (Eugene Cordero), Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan) and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) – where they make the startling discovery that the whole multiverse seems to be collapsing.

The third of the new scenes takes place during the credits and involves Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). It unfolds after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day – which saw him apprehended and taken to a secure medical facility.

In the new footage, he is seen to be working on a serum in an underground bunker, aiming to prevent himself from Hulking out. But that serum is no good when he's paid a visit by none other than Doctor Doom himself — a tantalising tease of the new villain ahead of his key role in Doomsday.

Finally, an extra scene at the very end of the credits saw another appearance from the antagonist, this time showing him fashioning his iconic metal mask – with the same mysterious metal-clanging noise that had appeared at the end of the original Endgame version.

There are still another three months to wait until we see just how much of an impact these scenes will have on Doomsday, but Marvel are certainly wasting no resource when it comes to ramping up excitement for the film.

Doomsday – which sees Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo return to the helm – looks certain to be another box office smash, after Brand New Day saw a return to the kind of grosses the MCU was used to in its heyday.

Avengers Endgame: Encore is now showing in UK cinemas. Avengers: Doomsday releases on 16 December.
