Cosy-punk puzzler ‘Wax Heads’ soundtrack is coming to vinyl

Translate

The soundtrack to independent record store game Wax Heads is getting a vinyl release.

Released earlier this year, the cosy–punk puzzler sees you working at indie vinyl store Repeater Records where your main task is recommending kick–ass bands to an eclectic stream of customers.

For the Wax Heads soundtrack, composer Gina Loughlin wrote original music for a number of made–up bands. Now those songs are getting a vinyl release.

“Drop the needle on a stacked soundtrack and immerse yourself in nostalgic gems. The soundtrack features 25 curated tracks spanning across many genres, bands, and eras,” reads the description from Super Rare Games. “From grimy basement bangers to dreamy indie deep cuts. It’s a playlist built to loop in your head long after you clock out.”

WATCH

The 2LP set features 25 tracks pressed on “colour in colour” wax, meaning every vinyl looks unique, alongside full colour sleeve and exclusive inner art. Pre–orders for the Wax Heads vinyl go live tomorrow (October 8) here.

“I admit, there probably is an overly romantic idealism about community and music in Wax Heads but bands like Fugazi [whose acclaimed 1990 debut ‘Repeater’ gave the virtual store its name] really meant something to me,” Wax Heads co-creator Murray Somerwolff told NME earlier this year. “And if we’re making a world where community matters, you have to have some of those [punk] values in there. If you didn’t, Wax Heads would feel a little empty.”
