6 charged in absentia over KL luxury condo armed robbery

Six foreigners were charged in absentia at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court yesterday with armed gang robbery at a luxury condominium on Jalan Ampang, involving losses of RM2.91 million

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said they were charged with gang robbery and armed robbery under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison and whipping.

Fadil said the prosecution has applied for the court to issue warrants of arrest for the six, with mention fixed for Oct 16.

“Police will apply for a Red Notice to be issued by Interpol to hunt down the suspects,” he said in a statement.

A group of masked men wearing gloves and armed with knives broke into a residential unit at Pavilion Embassy on Jalan Ampang between 2pm and 3pm on Sept 7.

They made off with cash, jewellery and luxury watches, and also damaged a mobile phone and stole the passport of a 28-year-old Chinese national.
