PUTRAJAYA: Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a two-day visit to Malaysia, was accorded an official welcome at the Perdana Putra Complex today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Min Aung Hlaing at 9am, followed by the playing of the national anthems of both countries.

Min Aung Hlaing then inspected a guard of honour mounted by three officers and 103 personnel from the First Battalion, Royal Ranger Regiment, led by Major Muhammad Nur Addeen Mustaza.

The ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Cabinet members, foreign diplomats, and senior government officials.

Following the ceremony, Min Aung Hlaing signed the guest book before proceeding to a private meeting with Anwar, followed by a bilateral meeting involving senior ministers and officials from both countries.

The two leaders are expected to discuss key issues, including efforts to voluntarily, respectfully, and safely repatriate Myanmar nationals of all ethnic groups residing illegally in Malaysia.
