‘The Louis Theroux Podcast’ to Double Spotify Output, Unveils Season 9 Guests (Exclusive)
Theroux fans, you’re in luck: The beloved documentarian is doubling his podcast output.
The Hollywood Reporter can reveal that Spotify and Theroux’s Mindhouse Studios are set to release twice as many episodes of The Louis Theroux Podcast, with season nine launching Oct. 14 and new installments arriving weekly.
The next season of the interview series brings together an eclectic lineup, including A-list Hollywood director Judd Apatow, Monty Python legend Eric Idle, and heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury.
British writer and broadcaster Jon Ronson, poet and performer John Cooper Clarke, actor and former footballer Vinnie Jones, author and activist Naomi Klein and Megan Phelps-Roper (who previously featured on his documentary The Most Hated Family in America) will also sit down to talk with Theroux, alongside further guests still to be announced.
Previous guests of the popular pod include Florence Pugh, Gary Lineker, Steve Coogan, Malala Yousafzai, Bella Ramsey, Sharon Stone, Barry Keoghan and more, as Theroux leans further into the format that has become a natural home for his particular style of interviewing: long-form, freewheeling conversations with people whose lives and work spark his curiosity.
“Hey, listen up, losers,” began Theroux in a statement shared with THR on Wednesday. “You heard me. LOSERS. Because guess what! My podcast is back and you really are going to ‘lose’ your minds when you see who the guests are! Tyson Fury? Jon Ronson? Naomi Klein? Wait, I haven’t finished! Eric Idle. Judd Apatow. I still haven’t finished! Vinnie Jones. And in an LTP first,” he continued, “we have a crossover guest from one of my TV documentaries: Megan Phelps-Roper, formerly of the Westboro Baptist Church — now a distinguished author and podcaster — talking to us about life inside one of America’s most notoriously weird groups.”
“Try to remain calm!” he said. “Now, there are even more episodes of the pod. Meaning you can keep on ‘losing’ (your minds) over and over again throughout the year. You’re welcome! See you on the LTP wherever you get your podcasts. Not literally,” added Theroux. “I can’t actually see you!”
Since its launch in 2023, The Louis Theroux Podcast has cemented Theroux as one of the U.K.’s most successful podcasters. Last year, it was the third most-listened-to podcast overall in Britain, according to Spotify Wrapped data — climbing from sixth place in 2024.
Theroux was most recently on our TV screens in the widely watched Netflix documentary Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere.
