Alliance with Tinubu will boost Accord chances – Gombe coordinator

Translate

The Gombe State Coordinator of the Accord Party, Samuel Chuwang, says the party will seek alliances with other political parties to strengthen its chances in the 2027 general elections, particularly in areas where it may not field candidates.

Chuwang said the party would consider working with political platforms that offered the best prospects of electoral success, while maintaining support for its candidates seeking seats in the National Assembly and state legislature.

He made this known in a telephone interview while reacting to questions about the possible impact of political alignments involving Accord’s national leadership and President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.

According to him, the party’s inability to field a governorship candidate in Gombe would make alliances necessary to remain competitive at the polls.

“Since we don’t have a gubernatorial candidate, we will definitely look for the party that is more shiny and then support so that we would work in alliance with them,” Chuwang said.

He, however, dismissed concerns that such arrangements would weaken Accord’s candidates for the National Assembly and state House of Assembly.

“Yes, it will not have an effect. It will not affect them in such a way that it will be negative to the party, because it’s a merger. It will also give us a chance to have wider recognition,” he said.
