Jennifer Welch & Angie Sullivan Apologize For Laughing At “Insensitive” Charlie Kirk Joke On Podcast: “We Regret It”

After losing several advertisers, the hosts of the I’ve Had It podcast have apologized for making light of Charlie Kirk‘s killing.

On Saturday, co-hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan expressed their regret in a statement over laughing at a midterms joke about the Sept. 10, 2025 shooting of the Turning Point USA founder, in addition to announcing their donation to Everytown for Gun Safety.

“On Thursday’s show, we laughed at a joke about Charlie Kirk,” they began in the statement shared on Instagram. “It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize.

“Whatever our political differences, there is nothing funny about gun violence. We’ve long supported common-sense gun safety reform. To that end, we’ve made a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America.”

Welch and Sullivan added, “We’ll keep using our platforms to fight for the safety of all Americans.”

The statement came after Thursday’s episode of the I’ve Had It podcast, in which they read X posts about the midterms. “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again,” they read, attempting to hold in their laughter.

Following an outcry from Kirk supporters, the on-air moment led to Cash App, Chewy and other advertisers pulling their support of the progressive comedic podcast.
