Fahmi: Only register for medicine delivery service through MoH to avoid scams on Facebook, TikTok

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 — Applications for the government's medicine delivery service (UMP) should be done only through the Ministry of Health, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today as he cautioned against possible scam attempts.

"Registration for the UMP programme is only conducted through KKM facilities, not via TikTok or Facebook accounts," the minister told reporters after launching the initiative here.

"I remind everyone there is no registration process other than at health clinics or Ministry of Health facilities only."

Patients in Malaysia will soon be able to receive their follow-up medication delivered directly to their doorstep free of charge, following a joint funding initiative announced today by the Communications Ministry and the Health Ministry.

Starting Oct 1, eligible patients will enjoy fully subsidized shipping costs for their follow-up prescriptions for a duration of one year under the UMP programme.

"The initiative is introduced to encourage more patients to utilise digital healthcare services, while simultaneously improving access to follow-up medications without requiring them to physically visit health facilities," the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said in a statement today.

Fahmi encouraged the public to seek more information, reiterating that registration for the programme is free.

"Registration for the UMP program is free and does not require any payment," he said.

Under the strategic partnership, the MCMC — acting in its capacity as the regulator of the country's postal sector — will coordinate the execution of the programme, while the MOH will manage patient eligibility and medication supply.

The physical delivery of the medications will be handled by Pos Malaysia Berhad.

The programme could benefit some 80,000 patients across the country each month, with estimated total shipping subsidy of RM5 million.
