Serian and 5 other areas record unhealthy air quality

No areas nationwide recorded very unhealthy or hazardous air pollutant index (API) readings as of 9am today, with only six areas recording unhealthy levels.
Serian in Sarawak recorded the highest API reading at 185, followed by Sri Aman (174), Samarahan (156), Kuching (156) and Sibu (109).
In the peninsula, Johan Setia in Selangor recorded an API reading of 120.
Overall, 54 areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings of between 94 and 51, while eight areas recorded good levels of between 45 and 19.
API readings between 0 and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
