Dexter: Resurrection Season 2's 20-Year Tradition Break Teased By Returning Star

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Dexter: Resurrection season 1.EXCLUSIVE: Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is reuniting familiar faces.

Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall) has faced many iconic enemies over 20 years, and no one gets away. However, Dexter: Resurrection season 1 saw a 20-year tradition shatter as a cold and calculated villain narrowly escaped Dexter's kill room. With season 2 fast approaching, the killer has been announced to return, as Dexter will come face to face with someone who may have the ability to see right through the character's games.

Eric Stonestreet, known for portraying the role of Al Jolly with the serial killer alias Rapunzel, is officially returning to the franchise after narrowly escaping with his life. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley at the Funko booth at New York Comic Con for Dexter: Resurrection season 2, newly announced cast member Stonestreet discussed what viewers can expect from his character's return and the upcoming season.

"I think where Al is going is when you find out where he's been. I think that's a good way to say it. You find out that Al has not stopped his unique brand of killing, and that doesn't sit well with Dexter. And Dexter falls back on what Dexter does and attempts to locate me, but whether he finds me and is successful, that's going to be up to the audience to watch and see."

It was revealed during NYCC's Dexter panel, where ScreenRant was in attendance, that Stonestreet would be in the first episode of season 2. Al Jolly will be shown as a normal family man in his home eating dinner with family, but will spot a girl with a ponytail walking by. From Stonestreet's own words, it appears Al has seemingly stopped killing, but how long his character can avoid temptation remains to be seen.

With Paramount's new image of Stonestreet's return in Dexter: Resurrection season 2, it appears likely that Dexter won't let Al walking away from the kill room go lightly. With Dexter and Al finally getting face to face after the climactic season 1 finale, only time will tell if Dexter follows through with his plans and puts an end to the evil Rapunzel killer.

With a record-breaking season 1, viewers are anticipating a dramatic, tense, and darkly humorous return for Dexter Morgan in Resurrection season 2. Season 1 is available to stream on Paramount+ now, and season 2 will arrive on October 30.
