The 20th edition of the Asian Games will begin on September 19 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Eight Indian athletes out of the 501 travelling to Japan will be taking part in squash events in this edition of the continental showpiece.
In 2023, the Indian squash contingent clinched five medals. While the Indian men’s team, and the mixed doubles duo of Harinder Pal Sandhu and Dipika Pallikal won gold, Saurav Ghosal took silver in men’s singles. The Indian women’s team, and the mixed doubles pair of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh bagged bronze.
The upcoming edition of the Asiad will serve as a qualifier for the men’s and women’s singles events when the sport makes its Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028.
