Malaysia’s passport now No. 2 globally, sharing silver tier with Singapore

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 28 — The Malaysian passport is now ranked second globally in The Passport Index Global Ranking 2026, rising from third last year.
The Immigration Department said in a social media post that this achievement reflects the strength and international acceptance of the Malaysian passport.
“Based on the ranking, Malaysian passport holders have access to 175 destinations, comprising 129 visa-free destinations and 46 destinations with visa-on-arrival, while 23 destinations require a visa,” according to the post.
Based on data from www.passportindex.org, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) passport holds the top spot in the Passport Power Rank, followed by Singapore and Malaysia in second place.
Meanwhile, Spain’s passport ranks third, while 16 other countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Norway, share fourth place. — Bernama
