Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed regional de-escalation and crisis management with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in a phone call on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Spokesperson for the Egyptian foreign ministry Nader Zaki said the two ministers reviewed options to manage escalating regional risks, as Abdelatty called on all parties to take responsibility for avoiding a broader conflict.

Abdelatty expressed full support for diplomatic efforts following recent meetings in Tehran to contain tensions.

The ministers also discussed expanding regional consultations between Iran and the “R4” ministerial group—comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey—to coordinate joint actions and mitigate security threats.
