Sources: Ole Miss RB Lacy (shoulder) not expected to be out long term

The left shoulder injury that sidelined Ole Miss star running back Kewan Lacy during last Saturday night's win over LSU is not expected to keep him out long term, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Lacy, who had an MRI on Sunday, is uncertain for this Saturday's game at Florida, as he'll be monitored this week to gauge his recovery, Thamel reported.

After the win over LSU, Ole Miss coach Pete Golding told reporters that X-rays on Lacy's shoulder came back negative. Lacy wanted to play through the pain, Golding said, but JT Lindsey was playing well enough by that point to stay in.

Lindsey, a sophomore and a former LSU transfer, rushed for 20 yards on four carries in the 32-24 win in Oxford.

Lacy is widely regarded as one of the top running backs in college football. He was an All-America pick and Doak Walker Award finalist last season when he set single-season program records for total rush attempts (306), rushing yards (1,567) and rushing touchdowns (24).

The junior from Dallas suffered a thigh bruise that knocked him out of Ole Miss' season-opening win over Louisville. He returned the following week and rushed for a pair of touchdowns against Charlotte.

Lacy has 39 carries this season for 191 yards and four touchdowns.
