Translate

The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a suspect in connection with the shooting deaths of two people at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, following an alleged financial dispute.

The deceased have been identified as 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to the residence on Friday, October 30, 2026, after receiving information about the incident.

The officers found the bodies of the two victims lying in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but failed to repay the money.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osel Anto, reportedly went to the deceased’s residence on the morning of the incident with a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment.

A misunderstanding allegedly broke out during the encounter, leading to the suspect shooting and killing George Atuguba and his niece.

The two victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.

The Accra Regional Police Command has also appealed to members of the public with relevant information to assist with investigations.
