PETALING JAYA, Sept 27 — Police yesterday confirmed that preliminary investigations into the death of a Form Two student at a school in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, suggest the incident stemmed from the victim’s alleged breach of school rules.

Following this, the suspect — a Form Four student — is believed to have reprimanded and “punished” the younger boy over the offence.

According to Astro Awani, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said that the suspect has been remanded for six days beginning Saturday to assist investigations, after the application was filed at the Seremban Magistrates’ Court.

“So far, only one individual — the Form Four student — has been detained to help with the probe,” he told Awani.

It was reported earlier that the student was found unconscious at the school hostel Friday night and was taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah, where he was pronounced dead.

The Education Ministry has also ordered an immediate audit of the school following the boy’s death and said it would cooperate fully with police.
