Minister invites USABC to boost transport investment in Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi invited the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) to strengthen investment in transport sector to support infrastructure modernization, better safety, logistics efficiency, and national economic growth.
"The United States companies could be investors and partners in achieving those goals," Purwagandhi said in a meeting with the council at the Transportation Ministry Office here in Jakarta on Thursday (Oct 29).
USABC is an organization that bridges companies from the United States with governments in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries to boost trade and investment ties.
Purwagandhi outlined the transport sector’s focus and encouraged investment in Indonesia, especially to support President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of eight percent economic growth by 2029.

To support the vision, the ministry is focusing on port modernization, airport development, expansion of road and railway networks, and integration of urban transport systems.
"Through the efforts, we aim to improve access to transport services, raise efficiency and reliability, and ensure safety and security across all transport modes," Purwagandhi said.
The US experience in technology, operations, financing, and human resource development, he added, could help Indonesia overcome challenges and improve the quality of transport services.
"Therefore, on this occasion discussions were also held on safety aspects, logistics systems, cleaner transport modes, and better urban mobility," he noted.
In safety sector, Purwagandhi said it must be the foundation of every partnership, whether in aviation, sea, land, or rail transport.

He expressed hope the meeting would produce cooperation that creates opportunities for Indonesian professionals and business players, while developing the expertise needed to sustain these improvements over time.
"To make this meeting productive, I invite each company to identify the most promising areas of cooperation, the challenges it wants to address, and the next steps needed to follow up," he said.
