Coronation Street's Idris Nazir will stop at nothing to get his hands on Carla Connor-Swain's precious factory next week – including hiring Brody Michaelis to do his dirty work.

"Idris will stop at nothing to get his mitts on the factory, and right now Carla is a sitting duck," explains our Weatherfield spy.

"The business is in trouble and therefore vulnerable to a snake like Idris, who Carla is determined won't be part of her empire. But after the events of this week, she may have no choice."

The week begins with Carla and Michael Bailey heading to the Chariot Square Hotel to meet a potential client, who is their last hope of keeping the business afloat.

However, hot on their tail is Idris, who follows Carla to the appointment and prepares to intercept the deal. When the client nips to the loo, Idris makes his move and says something to the client that shapes what happens next…

"Dejected Carla returns to the Street and reaches the sad conclusion that she'll have to cancel the staff Christmas bonuses," reveals our source. "It's the last thing she wants to do, but it's a necessary sacrifice if Underworld is to keep going."

After Idris overhears Carla telling Lisa that the fate of the factory relies on making sure its current order is delivered on time, scheming Idris calls Brody and sets the wheels in motion for a devastating plan.

Handing the teen a lighter, Idris informs Brody that he has a job for him – before Brody steals Sally Metcalfe's factory keys and lets himself inside. What does he have planned?

"Brody doesn't realise that he's been clocked breaking into the factory by Leanne," reveals our insider. "Whatever he does sets off the alarm – prompting Sally to alert Carla. How much damage has Brody done with the lighter Idris gave him?"

After events unfold, Leanne confronts Idris and Brody about their involvement in the drama at Underworld.

Meanwhile, Carla is left with no choice but to shut the factory and inform the workforce that she can only pay them one month's wages – just as Idris plots his next move. Once the sale of the school land goes through, he'll have the extra cash to buy Carla out.

However, as Sean Tully, Izzy Armstrong and Michael join Carla in The Rovers and vow to help her get Underworld back up and running, the factory boss refuses to go down without a fight. Is the war between Idris and Carla only just beginning?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
