Sue Perkins Exploring ADHD Diagnosis For First Time In Audible Podcast ‘Attention, Please! Tales From A Distracted Mind’

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Former Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins is exploring her late-in-life ADHD diagnosis for the first time in an Audible podcast.

Perkins was diagnosed with ADHD just a few years ago, in her 50s, and says she has since been on a journey.

Landing today, Attention, Please! Tales From a Distracted Mind will see Perkins take audiences inside her head via dramatic recreations, live conversations and specially composed music by Joe Zeitlin. She speaks with psychologist Dr Tara Quinn-Cirillo, neuroscience expert Professor Ellie Dommett, and endocrinologist Professor Niamh Martin, who share their expertise and tackle some of her most pressing questions, drawing on the latest research and understanding.

Perkins is a former Great British Bake Off and comedian who has fronted numerous British TV shows.

Perkins said: “I’ve spent most of my adult life feeling like I’m wired slightly wrong. Like everyone else got an instruction manual and mine got lost in the post. Getting an ADHD diagnosis later in life was equal parts relief and ‘Oh God, now what?’ This audio memoir is me finally having a proper look at my gloriously chaotic brain and trying to work out how to actually live with it rather than despite it. Fair warning: there’s laughter, there’s crying, there’s an inner voice that won’t shut up (also me), and at one point I end up doing equine therapy in the rain. It’s been quite the journey, and I’m chuffed it exists in audio because honestly, reading it back would have done my head in.”
