Netflix's "remarkable" new drama debuts with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating

Netflix's new drama Possible Love has debuted with a perfect 100% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its cinema and streaming release.

The Korean drama premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and is currently being shown at the BFI London Film Festival.

The film follows two couples, one that includes a recently laid-off worker and the other that involves a filmmakers, as they cross paths and set out to create a documentary about their lives.

From the 20 critics reviews collected on Rotten Tomatoes so far, every single of them is positive.

"[Director Lee Chang-Dong] is a densely patterned style of narrative intricacy and psychological insight that enriches what otherwise might have seemed mundane social realist dramas," wrote Sight & Sound.

"His seventh feature Possible Love is quintessential Lee, with its teasingly gradual revelations about his characters, their relationships and back stories."

Little White Lies said: "It's a remarkable feat that Lee contains so many narrative threads within Possible Love without ever losing command of them; rather they come together to create a drama that feels rich and lived-in, as thorny and multifaceted as any real-life marriage or friendship."

Time Out wrote that Lee "delivers an absorbing parable about the ruin wreaked by late capitalism. It's a four (and a bit)-hander that blossoms over its 164-minute runtime into a gesture of defiance for uncertain times."

"An intricate story of class conflict, journalistic ethics and the difficulty of healing," reads TheWrap's review, "the upcoming Netflix release is another slow-burn story from Lee, circling issues of deep trauma and loss for almost three hours in a measured tempo that simply refuses to rush."

Possible Love will be released in cinemas in major territories in October, and will come to Netflix on 6 November worldwide.
