Martin Odegaard reveals new Arsenal desire after statement Community Shield win

It was a confidence-boosting win against a team who had been widely tipped as their chief rivals for the Premier League title.

Arsenal remained in contention to clinch a historic quadruple as late in the season as April, but they ended it with just the one title after tasting defeat in the FA Cup quarter-finals and in the finals of both the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Consequently, Odegaard has lofty ambitions for the new campaign: "We played some brilliant football. Great performance and a great way to start the season.

"I always want to help the team as much possible with goals and assists. I want to score more goals.

"We showed our level today. We're showed we're ready. We're serious and we want to do it again.”

He continued, saying of Arsenal’s Premier League title defence: "We want to attack it. We want to do it again. When you get a taste of how nice it is you want to do it again.

"There are more trophies to go for. We want to win everything."

Pressed as to whether he was referring to the Champions League, he confirmed: “Of course, at this club you just want to win all of them, but that is the big one.”

Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign this Friday evening, hosting newly promoted Coventry at The Emirates.
