Tatiana has returned. Tate McRae kicked off her anticipated new era on Thursday night (Oct. 15) with the release of her looming fourth album’s lead single, “Housewife,” which came accompanied by a stunning music video shot in the South of France.
McRae teased “Housewife” during an appearance on The Tonight Show earlier in October, where she explained that the single was about “a woman who can’t be contained.”
The Canadian pop star revealed she’s continued to drop Easter eggs about her new era, but the Tater Tots weren’t picking up any of the hints she was laying down.
“My fans, in particular, we drop Easter eggs all the time, and they get none of them. They always catch onto things that are completely wrong,” she said. “This was literally in my Lolla set, it said ‘Housewife’ when the set started.”
In August, she took a dip in gold to close out her headlining set at Lollapalooza in Chicago, which became one of the more memorable and viral stunts from the weekend. During the set, McRae appeared to tease her next era with a video clip featuring a ticking clock soundtracked by an unreleased snippet, showing she was ready to turn the page to what was on the horizon.
The 23-year-old’s most recent album, So Close to What, was released in February 2025. It topped the Billboard 200 with 177,000 total album-equivalent units earned, according to Luminate.
