Tom Brady Sends Strong Message To Patrick Mahomes After Kansas City Chiefs’ First Loss

Tom Brady says Patrick Mahomes will be fine, and he put it in writing. In his latest NFL power rankings, Brady addressed the Chiefs' first loss of the year, a Week 7 defeat to Seattle in which neither Mahomes nor running back Kenneth Walker III reached the end zone. Mahomes had thrown for 1,309 yards and nine touchdowns over the first five games, then managed 165 yards on 19-of-33 against the league's top defense. Walker ran for a season-low 36. Kansas City visits Denver on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High.
Brady's take on the Chiefs after the Seahawks game
Brady kept it short and generous. "After the way this offense has played all year, we can cut them all some slack," Brady said of the Chiefs. "I have no doubt Pat is itching to get back out on the field in Denver and make things right. That's the kind of leader he is."
He did not stop at praise. "Kickstart that offense early, give Pat some time to work receivers open, and yeah, I'll say it: Can we make some field goals, guys?"
Brady played 23 seasons, so a quarterback's frustration after a game like that is something he knows firsthand. His field goal jab is a fair one too, since Seattle's defense was not the only reason the Chiefs left Lumen Field with three points.
What Chiefs and Broncos fans should watch Sunday
The first drive is the one to watch. Brady's advice starts there, and Kansas City has plenty to prove after the Seattle game. If Mahomes gets the ball out quickly and Walker finds room on early downs, the Broncos will have to defend more than one threat.
Denver is a division rival, and the game affects the AFC West standings. Kansas City has not scored fewer than three points in a Mahomes start since the 2021 season, so one more quiet afternoon would stand out far more than a single loss.
Brady has made his pick. Mahomes has the next game to answer him.
