Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd shares three-month update after hair transplant

Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd has shared an honest update on his recent hair transplant. The actor, who plays David Platt, underwent the procedure for the third time while on paternity leave this June.

Taking to Facebook yesterday, Shepherd posted a video showing off the transplant progress. After three months, he now has noticeable hair growth on his previously shaven head.

"It's been three months now, so the hair that I all had put in is all this, basically, at the front," he explained, combing through his new hairline with his hands.

"And in the middle. It was sort of like this section," he continued, tilting his head forward to show the camera. "I was fine all at the back. All that's what was there before. But all this basically, that's sort of all come through."

The star shared that the current growth is only "halfway" to "the finished article", with the end result typically noticeable around six months.

"So halfway there, and yeah, I suppose you've gotta say, it's coming on, innit?" he chuckled.

Shepherd initially shared the transplant news with his co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith, on the trio's podcast On The Sofa. He removed his hat to show them his shaved head, as he waited for the hair to regrow.

"This is my third one. So most people are thinking, I thought you'd just get one hair transplant and then it's Elvis," he said. "But that's not the case, apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on."

He added: "I could see it, I could see it further back in the middle. I could see it going in. So it was sort of act now while I could and I had a bit of time off for the baby, so it was perfect."

Meanwhile, on last Wednesday's episode of Corrie, David returned to the cobbles after a brief holiday visiting his mum Gail Rodwell. When he arrived home, he was sporting his buzz cut - as the episodes are filmed months in advance.

The soap found a way to address David's new look, with the hairdresser joking that he had lice. He then said that he was simply changing up his style.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
