Translate

A minibus collided with a stationary train near the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in France on Thursday, injuring the driver and 18 passengers, authorities said. Five people were seriously injured, but no lives appeared to be in danger, the local prefect said in a statement.

The minibus was carrying truck drivers preparing to board a shuttle train through the tunnel. Emergency services were at the scene.

Two Eurostar trains between France and England were listed as canceled Thursday evening.

The local deputy prefect was scheduled to hold a news conference at 10:30 p.m. (2030 GMT) at nearby Eurotunnel headquarters.

More to come on this developing news.
