Fortnite update today (17 September): What changes in the v42.20 patch notes?

It's a big footballing day with FC 27 early access kicking off tonight, but right now, we're more concerned with today's Fortnite update.

Downtime has begun for patch v42.20, and it's set to deliver some of the biggest collaborations in an already collab-heavy season.

So, let's take you through everything you can expect to see once the servers come back online.

If you've seen any recent Fortnite news online, then you know that today's the day that the Kingdom Hearts collaboration lands in the game.

Epic Games hasn't confirmed exactly what is coming in this collaboration, but based on the teaser trailers we've seen so far, we have a pretty good idea.

The characters set to get skins are Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas, with a collection of Kingdom Hearts cosmetics, Emotes and more set to join the game alongside them.

Additionally, there are a number of further collaborations set to be added to the game's files during this update, although it is not confirmed whether or not these will be released today or in the next week.

Here are all of the expected collaborations to be added, and when we think they could be released according to leakers:

• PAC-MAN Sidekick and Kicks – 18 September
• Ironmouse Icon Series skins, Emotes and cosmetics – 18 September
• Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Lucy skin and cosmetics – TBC
• Persona – TBC
• Five Nights at Freddy's – TBC

Beyond collabs, today's update will bring a refresh to the loot pool, with Loot Hacks bringing new weapons and items to the game.

The Deadeye Assault Rifle is getting vaulted, unfortunately, but it will be replaced with:

• Hyperburst Pistol
• Mammoth Pistol
• Reaper Sniper Rifle
• Deadeye DMR
• FlowBerry Fizz
• Rocket Ram

These will come to the game alongside some new Lobby Hack codes.

And last, but not least, we're getting some Gummy Sprite variants, as well as a potential Holo Sprite variant, to add to our growing Sprite collections.
