Olivia Rodrigo has shared a new festive single, Take Me Home (4 Christmas)’, along with a video starring Sex And The City‘s Cynthia Nixon and SNL‘s Ben Marshall. Watch below.

The track marks the pop star’s first-ever Christmas song, and is available on exclusive seven-inch vinyl and cassette. Fans can also purchase items from a full holiday collection – including limited-edition gifts, collectables and decorations – via Rodrigo’s website.

“I want you to take me home/ And not so we can make out/ I want you to take me home/ Take me home to your parents’ house,” Rodrigo sings in the upbeat chorus. “I want you to take me home/ Show me serious commitment/ I want you to take me home/ Yeah come on, take me home for Christmas.”

Complete with bells and a groovy rhythm, the infectious tune channels The Waitresses’ 1981 new wave yuletide classic ‘Christmas Wrapping’. Rodrigo also makes references to “peeking under the tree“, going for a “hungover brunch” and a desire to “get drunk” with her in-laws.

The warm and fuzzy official visuals begin in the aftermath of a wild festive party. Later, Rodrigo’s love interest – played by comedian and writer Marshall – takes his new girlfriend to meet his mum and dad

Nixon portrays his mother, with the family playing games and having fun together over dinner and drinks. At the end of the clip, we see Marshall still sleeping off the night before as a disappointed Rodrigo takes out the trash.

‘Take Me Home…’ follows on from the singer’s recent ‘Expectations’ remix with Chappell Roan, and her critically acclaimed third studio album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’.

Rodrigo is currently out on the North American leg of her massive ‘Unraveled’ world tour with Wolf Alice. She’ll head to the UK next spring for a huge residency at The O2 in London.

‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’, earned a glowing four-and-a-half-star review from NME. “Here is a major popstar who is not afraid to get weirder and more wonderful, to give even more of themselves over in their art,” it read.

‘Take Me Home (4 Christmas)’ comes on the heels of new Christmas singles from Elton John and CMAT and Sam Fender. Elsewhere, Self Esteem is recording the theme song for Channel 4‘s Mog’s Bad Thing festive special.

In other news, Olivia Rodrigo has won praise from Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan. “She’s like, ‘Bring me all these influences’,” he said. “She’s not afraid. She’s not afraid to make an imperfect song.”
