Tip-off leads to seizure of diesel, 5 lorries worth nearly RM1mil

Police seized 23,000 litres of diesel and five lorries worth an estimated total of RM949,160 during an operation in Taman Kota Puteri, Masai, yesterday.

Marine police region two commander Noor Azman Jamal said the operation followed a tip-off about the alleged misuse of subsidised diesel.

An initial inspection of two lorries at Jalan Penaga found diesel stored in rectangular tanks at the rear of the vehicles.

“A Malaysian man was questioned before he led the team to three more lorries parked by the road,” he said in a statement.

Noor Azman said the 50-year-old man, believed to have acted as a distributor, was detained for questioning. Investigations found that the operation had allegedly been running for about two months.

Twenty-four rectangular tanks, two electric pumps and hoses were seized alongside the five lorries.

The suspect and the seized items were handed over to the domestic trade and cost of living ministry’s Johor chapter for further action.
