President Sisi urges tech integration to boost local military, civilian vehicle production

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, stressed the need to upgrade technical support and maintenance systems and keep pace with the latest technological advances in manufacturing and developing technical equipment and vehicles to serve both the military and civilian sectors.
The President called for achieving self-sufficiency in various spare parts and directed efforts toward domestic production of military vehicles and equipment, with the capacity to export certain models to friendly and sisterly countries.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with the CEO of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), Major General Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr, and the Armed Forces Vehicles Department Director, Major General Staff Walid Hassan al-Kordi.
“The President inspected various models of trailers used in technical support and maintenance operations, which were manufactured entirely at Armed Forces factories in Egypt in accordance with the latest design and manufacturing standards,” Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed al-Shennawy said.
“The trailers were designed to maximize their capabilities and provide multiple uses,” the Spokesperson added.
President Sisi also inspected models of vehicles scheduled for development and local manufacturing in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
He received a detailed briefing from the Armed Forces Vehicles Department Director on the various stages of design and production, which highlighted the progress achieved in the industry and its alignment with the latest internationally adopted manufacturing methods.
Several vehicle models were also tested as part of the state’s plan to expand the manufacturing and production of electric cars.
Shennawy noted that the president reviewed ongoing coordination and cooperation between the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Armed Forces Vehicles Department to localize industries, rationalize imports from abroad and establish a defense industries chamber.
