Maguindanao del Sur bet withdraws candidacy

A candidate running for a parliamentary seat in Maguindanao del Sur has withdrawn his certificate of candidacy, the Commission on Elections said Monday.
Nasser Dalgan has withdrawn his certificate of candidacy for the position of 5th District of Maguindanao del Sur.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said Dalgan did not give a reason behind the withdrawal of his candidacy.
A document from Comelec's law department stated that since Dalgan's name is already included in the printed ballot, "any votes cast in [his] favor shall be considered stray."
BARMM is holding its first parliamentary elections on Monday, September 14, with 2.393 million registered voters.
According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the transmission of partial and unofficial results of the BARMM polls would begin after the closing of polls at 7 p.m. and the printing of the first nine copies of the election returns. —LDF, GMA News
