India win men's compound team gold, archery haul grows to three golds

NEW DELHI: India continued their strong run in archery at the Asian Games 2026 as the trio of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam won the gold medal in the men's compound team event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday.The Indian team defeated China 238-237 in a thrilling final to clinch the gold medal.India held their nerve in a closely fought contest.

The men's compound team gold came on a big day for Indian archery.Earlier, the women's compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep also won gold after beating China 238-234 in the final.

India's compound mixed team of Chikitha and Sahil also finished on top after beating South Korea in a shoot-off.

The victory also secured an Olympic quota place for India for the Los Angeles 2028 Games, where the compound mixed team event will make its Olympic debut.The men's team of Dalal, Jadhav and Ganesh had earlier defeated the UAE 235-215 in the round of 16 and Bhutan 235-232 in the quarterfinals.The Indian women's and mixed teams successfully defended the compound team titles won at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou.
