India Under-19 38 for 2 (Virk 16, Ojha 13*, Vaseo 1-8, Green 1-12) trail Australia Under-19 174 (Henderson 37, Neel 31, Baloda 6-32, Akram 2-45) by 136 runs

Left-arm spinner Tanmay Baloda's six-wicket haul gave India Under-19 the advantage after the first day of the second Youth Test against Australia Under-19 in Ahmedabad. Baloda helped skittle Australia out for 174, although the visitors struck back by removing the Indian openers before stumps.

After asking Australia to bat, India's new-ball bowlers found breakthroughs early. Priyanshu Singh accounted for Australia captain Matthew Lough in the second over before Mohit Ulva had Hayden Barbulovic, the other opener, caught behind in the fifth.

Neel Patel and Eli Brain then held their ground for 12 overs before Baloda got into the act, first trapping Brain lbw before having Neel stumped in his next over. Right-arm quick Aayan Akram had Blake Cattle nicking off in the next over, before Baloda removed Zed Hollick, thus leaving Australia six wickets down in the 21st over.

Wicketkeeper-batter Charlie Henderson and No. 8 Jacob Pietz helped Australia recover with a 70-run stand, but Baloda once again broke through for India, knocking Pietz over for 26. Henderson fell soon after to Akram, and Baloda cleaned up the tail.

In their response, India made a watchful start. However, Lakshya Raichandani, whose double-century laid the platform for India's win in the first Youth Test, was caught behind off fast bowler Thomas Vaseo in the seventh over for just 1 off 22 balls. Legspinner Spencer Green, who came on as first change for Australia, then trapped Sagar Virk lbw.

India's No. 3 Kushagra Ojha and their captain Yashbardhan Chauhan held firm till stumps, with India trailing by 136 runs. Ojha was batting on 13 off 28 deliveries, and Chauhan on 7 off 11.
