KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 — Two local men arrested following a police chase along Jalan Wangsa 5, Bukit Antarabangsa heading towards the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in Hulu Kelang here yesterday, were found to be in possession of sharp weapons, cable-theft equipment, and drugs inside their vehicle.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said both suspects were apprehended when their Isuzu Dmax vehicle was intercepted at the junction of Jalan Jelatek and Jalan Taman Setiawangsa near the Caltex station in Setiawangsa.

“An inspection of the suspects’ vehicle led to the discovery of dangerous weapons such as a machete (parang) and a sickle, as well as cable-theft tools like a manhole opener. Also seized were substances suspected to be drugs,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions, and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for carrying or possessing offensive weapons in public places.

Investigations are also being conducted under Section 29(1) of minor offences Act 1955 for possessing or conveying property suspected of being stolen or fraudulently obtained, and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.

Yesterday, several videos went viral on social media showing members of the public assisting police in chasing the two suspects, who attempted to flee after colliding with public vehicles. — Bernama
