BANGKOK, Nov 3 — Thailand’s entertainment industry has been rocked by allegations that well-known directors, actors and other industry insiders were among members of an online group accused of sharing women’s photos, voyeuristic content and AI-generated nude images without their consent.

The allegations surfaced on October 28 after a whistleblower on X exposed the Facebook group, claiming that its members shared photos and videos of women, sexually harassed their targets and circulated AI-generated nude images.

According to the whistleblower, the Facebook group was created in April 2025, required a specific link to enter and grew to as many as 230,000 members.

Among them were individuals said to be working in the film, television and advertising industries, including directors, cinematographers and actors known for their roles in Thai Boys’ Love (BL) dramas.

The group also reportedly used special symbols in its name to evade search detection and initially targeted members of popular Thai girl group BNK48, before expanding to other female celebrities, journalists and ordinary women, according to Hong Kong publication Sing Tao Headline.

The allegations have also raised concerns that some industry professionals may have exploited their access to female celebrities and models to obtain photographs, which were then allegedly shared within the group.

Meanwhile, Thai actor Tharatorn Jantharaworakarn (also known as Boom) who is best known for his roles in GMMTV series We Are (2024) and Only Friends: Dream On (2026), was recently accused of secretly filming and harassing female artistes under the same agency.

The 28-year-old subsequently issued a statement on social media denying the allegations, urging the public to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it, reported Sing Tao Headline.

The whistleblower later reportedly clarified that Boom was not linked to the Facebook group scandal and that the allegations against him were unrelated to the case.

The scandal has been dubbed Thailand’s version of the South Korea Telegram Nth Room case, a notorious 2020 digital sex crime network in which sexually exploitative content of women and girls was created, distributed and sold primarily on Telegram. — AsiaOne
