Antonio Brown stood in a Miami courtroom on Friday with up to 30 years in prison hanging over him. He left with probation. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver pleaded guilty on November 6, 2026, to aggravated assault with a firearm, which ended the attempted murder case from May 2025. No prison time. Three years of supervision instead, plus a psychological evaluation, counseling, and a ban on owning guns. Against a 20-year minimum, that is a dramatic swing for any defendant. The man Brown allegedly shot even said he no longer wanted the case to continue.

Antonio Brown Plea Deal: How A 20-Year Minimum Became Three Years Of Probation

Florida law attaches a heavy price to firearm crimes. Brown's original charge, second-degree attempted murder, carried a mandatory minimum of 20 years. Pleading to the lesser count wiped that floor away.

His attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, made no effort to play it cool. "My client was facing 30 years in prison with a 20-year minimum mandatory, and he was given an offer he just couldn't refuse," Eiglarsh told reporters. "Probation was too good to turn down, and we're both very excited about the outcome."

JUST IN: Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown extradited from Dubai back to the United States to face attempted murder charge. The charge stems from a shooting earlier this year in Miami, where Brown is accused of trying to shoot a man at an Adin Ross boxing event. Alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, says Brown tried to shoot him with a handgun. Brown claims he was trying to protect himself from people who were trying to jump him. "...In May he snuck into a gate at the event and came right up to me trying to steal from me and threaten my life, Media hasn't told this story yet… instead painting a false picture of me. That night I was fighting for my life with his intentions," Brown previously said.

Getting there took months. Miami-Dade prosecutors signed off on the terms early, yet Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez postponed the first plea hearing because she was still reading the agreement. Brown wore a GPS monitor the whole time. The Los Angeles Times reports he can ask to end probation after roughly 18 months, and the deal leaves him without a criminal conviction.

Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu And The Miami Shooting Behind The Antonio Brown Case

The night in question was May 16, 2025, outside a celebrity boxing event in Little Haiti. Prosecutors say Brown fought with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, grabbed a handgun from a security guard, and fired twice as he chased him. Nantambu told investigators a bullet grazed his neck.

Brown said he acted in self-defense. His lawyers argued he feared for his safety and fired warning shots, and they asked the court to dismiss the case under Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

Nantambu took a different path. He forgave Brown publicly and hoped he would find real help. "We want the best for Antonio," Nantambu said. "We want him to get the healing that he needs and, hopefully, he can seek that in the free world."

Brown left the country soon after. U.S. Marshals arrested him in Dubai in November 2025, and he was extradited to Florida, pleaded not guilty, and walked out on a $25,000 bond with house arrest. He is 38 now. His last NFL season came with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, and his final game ended in January 2022 against the New York Jets, when he pulled off his gear and left the field.

Outside the Miami courthouse, he kept it simple. "I thank God," he said.
