Sonal Chauhan recalls Emraan Hashmi 'was not fully convinced' about the iconic proposal scene in 'Jannat'; reveals him saying, 'bit too much'

Sonal Chauhan has looked back on a memorable moment from the 2008 film 'Jannat'. She said that Emraan Hashmi had doubts about the film's well-known proposal scene while it was being shot. The film still has a loyal fan base, and the scene is among its most loved moments.

What Sonal Chauhan said about the proposal scene

In a chat with Shubhankar Mishra, Sonal Chauhan spoke about Emraan Hashmi's reaction. “Emraan was not fully convinced for the iconic proposal scene. At that time, he said, 'This is getting a bit too much!' But, thank God we did it! It became a cult,” she said. She also gave credit to the late singer KK, whose voice added to the impact of the scene. Fans often talk about her smile in the sequence, but Sonal Chauhan had a different view when she first saw it.

"People talk about my smile in that scene, but when the trailer came out, and I saw that smile, I was cringing," she recalled. She added that things sometimes fall into place when a film is meant to work.

Fans still react strongly to the film

Sonal Chauhan said viewers still connect deeply with the story, even after many years. “It is a victory for the film that people took it so personally; to this day, guys come up to me and say, 'You shouldn't have let Emraan die,'” she said.

Disagreement over a scene in the script

The actor also shared that she did not agree with a few parts of the script. One scene, which included a talk about transport and a coffee date, made her character look materialistic in her eyes. "I told the director that he was turning me into a gold digger!" she recalled. That scene, too, became a memorable part of the film.

About 'Jannat'

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, 'Jannat' features Hashmi as Arjun, a man whose involvement in cricket betting creates problems in his relationship with Chauhan's character, Zoya.

The film's music, performances and romantic moments have kept audiences talking about it.Chauhan's comments show how a scene that once felt too much to its lead actor went on to become one of the most enduring moments of the film.

Sonal Chauhan's current work

Chauhan is currently getting attention for playing Mumtaz Bibi in 'Mirzapur: The Movie', her entry into the crime-drama world of the franchise.
