‘Single window processed N11.27bn payment in five months’

The National Single Window platform processed 114,122 licences and permits and facilitated N11.27bn in payments between 27 March and 17 August 2026.

The Phase One roll-out status update sighted by The PUNCH showed that 10,818 importers and agents have registered on the platform, with five Ministries, Departments, and Agencies fully onboarded, while over 8,000 users have received training.

“The update further showed that 24 of the 27 airlines have been onboarded, with 2,139 air cargo manifests transmitted through the system,” the report stated.

It stressed that adoption among shipping lines remains significantly lower, with 23 of 88 shipping lines onboarded and only 43 manifests transmitted, representing a platform usage compliance level of 26 per cent.

The report emphasised that a detailed overview of the update showed that the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency have completed their readiness requirements, and their operational integration into the platform remains in progress.

“Standards Organisation of Nigeria has completed its readiness requirements with 100 per cent platform usage compliance, while recording the highest volume of transactions under the licences, permits, certificates and other regulatory documents component, processing 78,957 documents and facilitating payments of N9.02bn,” the report stated.

According to the report, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control followed with 34,815 documents processed and N2.20bn in payments, adding that the National Agricultural Quarantine Service processed 38 documents and received payments of N30m, “while the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency processed 311 documents and recorded payments of N10m.”

The report also indicated that the Nigeria Customs Service, importers, freight forwarders and clearing agents had attained full readiness and were operationally ready on the NSW platform, with 100 per cent compliance recorded for the relevant LPCO processes.

“For the NCS, the platform recorded 100 per cent compliance for licences, permits, certificates and other regulatory documents, although the number of documents and payments processed was listed as not applicable in the reporting framework. In the airlines and shipping segment, air cargo manifest achieved 89 per cent compliance, with 24 of 27 airlines onboarded, while shipping-line cargo manifest compliance stands at 26 per cent, with only 23 of 88 shipping lines participating,” the report stressed.

The NSW Platform is set to embark on the implementation of the Phase Two rollout to reduce paperwork, improve transparency, shorten cargo clearance processes and provide a more seamless interface between traders, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders across Nigeria’s trade ecosystem.
