Why You Can’t Miss ‘Wild Horse Nine’ in 35mm at The Alex

John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell sitting on a couch in an airport and laughing in 'Wild Horse Nine'

In the movie, just before the 1973 Chilean coup, longtime CIA partners and friends Chris (Malkovich) and Lee (Rockwell) are dispatched to Easter Island, a place Chris has yearned to go for some time. While enjoying their business trip, however, the two are confronted by their dark pasts, and Chris’s age complicates matters further when he befriends two rebellious students (Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas), putting their mission at risk.

The Alex Theatre, built just over a century ago in 1925, is offering Los Angeles patrons an unforgettable night. In a time when preserving the moviegoing experience is crucial and the fate of film remains up in the air, more and more of us long for an intimate place to sit down and escape for a couple of hours. Just this year, the historic arthouse established itself as a necessary gem in L.A. when they installed a 70mm booth to accommodate Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Now, The Alex is offering some of the few opportunities for L.A. movie lovers to see McDonagh’s latest in a celluloid format.

Wild Horse Nine officially opens in theaters on November 6. We have a very limited number of tickets, so if you want to guarantee a spot, you can purchase tickets to The Alex here. Check back with Collider for more special screening events.
