‘AHS’ Season 13 Trailer Returns Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and More to Iconic Franchise Roles: “It’s Witch-Hunting Season”

Yes, it’s really happening. Everyone’s favorite American Horror Story characters are uniting for the anthology’s 13th season, and the official trailer (below) offers more footage of the returning stars reprising their past characters.

“Get in. It’s witch-hunting season,” Evan Peters‘ James Patrick March from season five’s Hotel says in a nod to Coven.

The trailer then pans to the witches from season three’s Coven, as Emma Roberts‘ Madison Montgomery asks, “What do you sense?” Sarah Paulson‘s Cordelia Foxx, aka the Supreme, responds, “A harbinger of our doom. So much terrifying and vengeful death. Something wicked this way comes.”

The trailer also features John Waters, who hints at why the characters are coming together for season 13: “Thirteen stands for instability, chaos.

“He’s really riding that 13 thing extra hard, isn’t he?” Billie Lourd’s Winter Anderson says to Peters’ Kai Anderson, both from season seven’s Cult.

The cast also includes Paul Anthony Kelly, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Joey Pollari, Avantika, Jamie Brewer, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Frances Conroy, Mat Fraser, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Mena Suvari and Zach Villa. 

Last month, co-creator Ryan Murphy clarified that season 13 would bring all of the American Horror Story seasons together. “Everybody thinks it’s a Coven season and it’s not. It’s all the seasons,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Sarah Paulson is playing six or seven roles. Jessica Lange is playing all four of her iconic characters. Evan Peters is playing five characters. … It is like the Avengers. They all come together to defeat the ultimate evil.”

Murphy also told The Hollywood Reporter that season 13 won’t be the end for the anthology series.

“Season 13 is not the end; I’m working on season 14 as we speak in terms of, ‘What’s the idea?’ and ‘Who wants to be in it?'” Murphy said, while also admitting that he wouldn’t have done the show if Lange hadn’t said yes.

To conclude the trailer, Lange’s Constance Langdon from season one’s Murder House says, “If you’re gonna rise up and rule the world, you better get yourself a damn sense of humor.”

AHS: 13 will feature 13 half-hour episodes and premiere Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu. Premiere week and week two will each include three episodes, followed by two episodes each week thereafter, leading up to the final episode on Oct. 29.
