Hair and scalp health has never been more important. We might have everything we need for the scalp, but what about the strands? While other serums and oils stay on the surface of the locks, this new product by Nutrafol goes deep.

The Strand Serum is powered by a DualFusion Complex technology that starts with a water phase that penetrates the hair cortex, while an oil phase seals the cuticle to reinforce, protect, and support stronger locks. The rest of the formula is infused with milk thistle seed extract, wild olive extract, hemisqualane, and rosehip fruit extract to help strengthen, soften, moisturize, and seal split ends.

And the best part? It's also on sale for Prime Day, and it's approved by a celebrity colorist. We spoke with Rachel Bodt (whose star-studded client list includes Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Lorde, and Emma Roberts) all about it and more.

"I recently added Strand Serum to my routine, and it makes so much sense to me that Nutrafol is thinking about the hair you’ve already grown, too. As someone with curly hair, I’m very particular about leave-ins because too much can weigh my hair down, and this is incredibly lightweight," she told E!. "As a colorist, I love that it’s such an easy step to help strengthen and protect the hair."

  • The new Nutrafol Strand Serum specifically targets strand health, porosity, and breakage from the cortex to the cuticle.
  • According to Rachel Bodt, protecting your hair and scalp is everything—coloring or bleaching your hair doesn't mean it'll be automatically damaged.
  • The celebrity hair colorist recommends going to a professional who doesn't rush results, never using high heat for styling, and focusing on aftercare at home.

This fall, we're definitely looking into investing in some juicy thick locks, a balanced scalp, and coloring our locks in that trendy chocolate-brown shade all the celebrities are sporting. But how can we do it all without damaging our hair?

Bodt takes hair health very seriously, and she gave us plenty of tips for our next hair color appointment. So, keep scrolling to learn more, get the new serum, and shop more Nutrafol Prime Day deals.

"Nutrafol’s Strand Serum has quickly become one of my favorites because it specifically targets porosity and breakage, which can be especially relevant for color-treated or chemically processed hair," Bodt told E!.

"It’s incredibly lightweight, so if you’re already dealing with thinning hair or breakage on the ends, it’s not going to weigh you down."

Nutrafol Strand Serum

This shake-activated serum unites a replenishing oil phase and a strengthening water phase to protect thinning strands, helping reduce breakage by 64%2 for stronger hair that can grow longer.

How Her Celebrity Clients Prevent Hair Damage When Coloring

For a celebrity colorist like Bodt, hair and scalp safety is everything. "Color can put a lot of stress on the hair, so I’m always thinking about how to protect the integrity of the strand," she told E!. "I’m a big believer in supporting hair from both sides." It starts from within. She recommends focusing on creating a healthy foundation for new hair growth with Nutrafol's supplements, and then protecting your locks from future damage.

"That’s where something like Nutrafol’s new Strand Serum comes in. It helps strengthen vulnerable strands, reduce breakage, and protect against heat up to 450°F." Although she doesn't recommend using high heat at all with color.

In the salon, she takes her time with the color process. "I use pre- and post-bonding treatments, and I never rush results. During big color changes, I’ll stop between each step and check in on how the hair is feeling," Bodt explained. "I’ll also add bonding treatments to the color itself and use high-performing shampoos and conditioners to help put moisture and protein back into the hair."

Lightweight and nourishing, this conditioner is formulated with ximenia oil, protective postbiotics, and arginine to replenish moisture while improving the elasticity of thinning hair.

Bleaching & Coloring Your Hair Doesn't Mean It'll Be Damaged

Bleaching and coloring your locks doesn't have to be damaging and stressful for your hair or scalp. "I think this is one of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to coloring hair," Bodt told E!. "Of course, if you’re doing major bleaching and lots of rounds, it can be hard, but it’s still possible to have hair feeling great when it’s done very precisely."

In her experience, most of the damage comes from heat styling and improper aftercare. "Most hot tools can go up to 450 degrees, and when you think of hair as delicate lace and place high heat on it, it can eat right through it," she explained. Even wearing a tight-and-high ponytail can make your hair snap with all the tension.

"That’s why how you care for your hair at home is so important—simple changes like lower-heat styling, heat protectants, silk scrunchies, and being gentler with your hair can really help prevent further damage between appointments," Bodt told E!.
