The proceedings are part of the INDIA bloc’s campaign against alleged ‘vote chori’

NEW DELHI: The INDIA bloc on Friday postponed its proposed ‘public impeachment’ proceedings against chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar to Saturday due to rain. The programme was scheduled to take place at 10, Rajaji Marg, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in New Delhi. The opposition bloc had planned the event as a public expression of its demand for Kumar’s removal, accusing the Election Commission of failing to address its concerns over alleged ‘vote chori’. The proceedings were intended to bring together leaders and representatives of INDIA bloc parties to discuss the charges against the CEC and the opposition’s demand for action.According to the sources, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will preside over the proceedings and the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha would move a motion, followed by speeches from representatives of various parties. The Congress had also announced a ‘Dilli Chalo’ march against alleged vote chori to Ramlila Maidan on November 1, with the party aiming to mobilise at least one million citizens.
