Rajinikanth says he wanted Tamannaah Bhatia to do a song in 'Jailer 2': 'The only missing element is...'

Rajinikanth has revealed what he believes is the one element missing from his upcoming film ‘Jailer 2’. And surprisingly, it is neither an action sequence nor a dramatic scene, but a song featuring Tamannaah Bhatia. During a recent promotional event, the superstar spoke about wanting the actress to be part of the sequel and recalled how he even requested director Nelson Dilipkumar to include a song featuring her.Speaking at the event, Rajinikanth said, "The only missing element in Jailer 2 is Tamannaah." He revealed that he had personally approached Nelson with the suggestion, but the filmmaker was not convinced about including the sequence simply because the actor wanted it.Recalling their conversation, Rajinikanth shared that when Nelson responded, "I can't keep it just because you like it, sir," he had a fitting reply."I didn't say I like it. If I had done whatever I liked, I would have become irrelevant and gone to Bengaluru. I'm still in the field because I'm doing what audiences are loving," the actor said.Tamannaah featured alongside Rajinikanth in the first instalment of ‘Jailer’, released in 2023. The film emerged as a major commercial success, earning more than Rs 650 crore worldwide, with the actress's song sequence becoming one of its memorable highlights.

Meanwhile, Tamannaah is enjoying the run of her latest film, ‘The Vvaan’, which reportedly opened to Rs 30 crore over its first weekend. The actress also has several projects lined up, including ‘Ragini 3’, ‘Maria IPS’ and an untitled action film alongside Ajay Devgn.Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Jailer 2’ will see Rajinikanth return as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel continues the story from the first film, with the character facing a criminal network that turns against him.The film features

Mithun Chakraborty

, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, among others.‘Jailer 2’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026.
