Supermodel Rose Bertram On Her Revealing Feature Doc: “The Thing I’ve Kept Secret For So Long Is Now, In A Way, Being Shared With The World”

EXCLUSIVE: Belgian supermodel Rose Bertram has opened up about the documentary that chronicles her professional and family life and how she has coped with her mother’s addiction issues.

Production has now wrapped on A Girl Like Rose. “After watching the film, it was as if I saw my life flash before my eyes,” she said. “I didn’t realize how intense it would be to watch it all again and have so many of the emotions and traumas I had buried for years come back to the surface.”

The film was filmed over six years. It comes from filmmaker Jonathan de Jong and his Amsterdam-based banner SUPER7EVEN Productions.

Bertram broke through as a teenager and has worked for brands including H&M, L’Oréal, AP and Sports Illustrated and has also built a profile as an influencer and creator. A Girl Like Rose takes in the glamor of model life in locations including Cannes, Ibiza and Los Angeles. The Doc follows Bertram beyond the runways and red carpets as she navigates her career and relationship with her mother, Maria, amid the impact of addiction.

Bertram said: “The thing I’ve kept secret for so long is now, in a way, being shared with the world, something I’m incredibly proud of, but also something that feels incredibly vulnerable. It shows just how much I love my mum and, at the same time, highlights how difficult it can be to maintain that love when addiction threatens our relationship.”

She added: “As difficult as it has been to relive these memories, I hope that by sharing my story, I can help other people who have experienced similar struggles in their own lives. If my story can make even one person feel less alone or give someone the courage to speak about what they’ve been through, then opening up about my past will have been worth it.”

Bastiaan Brand serves as creative producer on the film. Bob Thole composed the score. MN Media and High Mass are handling distribution for the Netherlands and Belgium, respectively.

The feature doc will be released in 2027. Check out the first-look pics.
