MYEG failed to remit RM314mil in govt revenue since May, says Loke

PUTRAJAYA: My E.G. Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd, both under the MYEG Group, failed to remit RM314 million in government revenue collected between May 19 and Sept 30, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He said the amount involved collections that had yet to be transferred to the Transport Ministry Accounting Office's Primary Receiving Account.
"From May 19 to Sept 30, the total claims against these companies amounted to RM314 million, involving government revenue collections that had not been transferred to the Primary Receiving Account of the Transport Ministry's Accounting Office," he said at a press conference today.
Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli was also present.
Loke said reports that the ministry and RTD had failed to act for three years were inaccurate.
"That is not correct. The three-year period is inaccurate. These arrears began in May this year, just a few months ago," he said.
On Friday, the RTD announced that it would suspend the services of My E.G. Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd as its collection agents effective immediately.
