Taylor Swift donates $50,000 to help mother hit by car

Taylor Swift has donated to a mother who was hit by a car while trying to help someone else.

The pop star donated $50,000 (£37,000) to a GoFundMe created to assist Ashley Taunton, her husband, and their three children with daily expenses while Taunton recovers from the accident.

According to the fundraising page, Taunton saw someone in need after a car accident and pulled over during a heavy rainstorm to help. As her husband, Joe, writes, it was “Ashley doing Ashley things”.

While Taunton was assisting, another vehicle hydroplaned toward them, and Taunton pushed a person at the scene out of the way before being struck herself. The GoFundMe says that Taunton is “now facing a very long and difficult road to recovery”, having already undergone two major surgeries with more scheduled in the days ahead.

Fans soon noticed that, in the comment section of the page, Swift had left a message for Taunton and her family, alongside her donation, that read: “Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family!”

Taunton has since responded, saying she is “sobbing with so much gratitude”.

Ahead of Swift’s marriage to Travis Kelce earlier this year, the pair donated $26million (£19.5million) to 20 charities across the United States.

In other Swift news, the singer recently reflected on her “country roots” saying she feels “more loyal” to the genre than ever. Her comments follow the release of country track ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, which she recorded especially for the soundtrack of the new Toy Story film.

Fans have been speculating that new music is on the way after Swift was recently spotted leaving Electric Lady Studios in New York following a nine-hour overnight recording session. She was with Haim‘s Alana and Danielle Haim.

Swift’s last album was 2025′S ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘, which was inspired by her experience on her record-breaking ‘Eras’ tour. It soon became the best-selling album of that year in the UK – making Swift the first artist to have the top seller in consecutive years for different albums since ABBA in 1977.

Since the album’s release, Swift has become the youngest female artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, invited Graham Norton, Lewis Capaldi, and Cillian Murphy for her ‘Opalite’ music video, and filed to trademark her own voice and image after growing concerns about AI.
