Amid the growing speculation, Malhotra took to social media to clarify that no casting details should be treated as official until they are announced by the team.The filmmaker wrote, “Absolutely touched and delighted by the love and interest around Kamal Aur Meena.”He then made a request to fans and those following the project, saying, “stop the speculation” and urging everyone not to believe unconfirmed reports.

Variety India recently reported that the makers were in advanced discussions with Saif Ali Khan and Triptii Dimri for the lead roles. According to the report, contracts and shooting dates were being discussed as the project remained in pre-production. The report stated, “The actors are in advanced discussions to play the lead roles.

What is ‘Kamal Aur Meena’ about?

The film’s title refers to the relationship between Meena Kumari and filmmaker Kamal Amrohi, whose romance and marriage remain among the most fascinating chapters of Hindi cinema history. ‘Kamal Aur Meena’ is being produced by Bilal Amrohi, the grandson of Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi. The project is expected to explore their personal and professional relationship, with the making of the classic ‘Pakeezah’ forming an important part of the story.
