Ankush secured a gold medal in the men’s 80kg boxing after defeating South Korea’s Kim Minseong in the final at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.
He becomes the third Indian to win gold in boxing at this edition after Lovlina Borgohain and Parveen Hooda earlier on Saturday.
The Indian pugilist came out of the blocks quickly and claimed the first round 4-1. He continued his strong showing in the second round, taking it 5-0 to put himself in the driver’s seat.
With time running out, Kim attempted to force the issue with a more aggressive style, but the Indian held his nerve to see out the win with a 4-1 victory in the final round.
