The Philippine National Police (PNP) said charges could be filed against the service provider and school officials if negligence is found to have caused the fatal electrocution incident during a bubble party in Cauayan City in Isabela.

At a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Allen Rae Co said possible charges include reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and physical injuries.

“This goes both for the service provider as well as the school authorities. And, of course, damages,” Co said.

The incident happened on Saturday during a fund-raising activity at Cauayan South Central School that started with a fun run for children and was followed by a bubble party.

Two minors died while two others were injured in the incident.

Police are investigating the setup of the event, which was held in an open area where extension wires and electrical outlets were exposed.

The PNP has sought the assistance of an electrical engineer to determine what caused the incident and assess the electrical setup at the venue.

Initial reports also indicated that some people at the event had raised concerns about possible electrical grounding. Authorities have yet to determine whether organizers took appropriate action after the warning.

No waivers had been signed by the parents of the participating students, according to the PNP.

The PNP said the investigation is ongoing to determine whether negligence by the service provider or school officials contributed to the incident.— MCG, GMA News
