Walmart gets aggressive with a new membership bundle for Walmart+ and Sam's Club

Walmart (WMT) announced a joint membership that combines Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus for $120 a year. The retail giant noted the aggressive pricing deal works out to nearly $100 less than buying both memberships separately. The bundle costs the same as a standalone Sam's Club Plus membership, which went up from $110 to $120 a year in May 2026. So for Plus members, Walmart+ is effectively free. A potential catch for consumers is that there is only an annual payment option.
The dual membership includes the ability to shop at Sam's Club warehouses and get free delivery from both chains. It also includes a Peacock or Paramount+ subscription, gas savings, and 2% Sam's Club cash on eligible purchases. Notably, customers who already belong to both programs can link their accounts to get the discount. Walmart (WMT) and Sam's Club will still sell their memberships separately. Employees at both companies will get the joint membership as a benefit.
"For $120 a year, we’re raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own," stated Walmart (WMT) CEO John Furner.
For comparison, Costco's (COST) top tier is $130 a year, which is $10 more than Walmart's new $120 joint plan. Costco's (COST) basic Gold Star tier is $65 a year.
Shares of Walmart (WMT) were up 1.3% in premarket action. Costco (COST) was up 0.7%.
